What is Cerel.online?

Cerel.Online is a Legal Spanish Language Exam which proves that you can speak, read, understand and write well enough to deal with Spanish speaking lawyers and to express yourself using appropriate and relevant Spanish legal vocabulary. 

Cerel.online is purely a Spanish language exam. It tests the language and vocabulary and not any legal advice that the candidate might give as part of the exam.

What is the pass mark?

The exam is worth 100 points and, in order to obtain the certificate, you will need a total of 50 points.

What do I need?

You must have:

an advanced level of Spanish.

We Are:

Founded as a private language organisation set up by Daniel Cristiano and Liz Merchant.

Daniel Crisitano is trilingual Spanish, Italian and English. Qualified Argentine lawyer, specialising in contract law. Since leaving Argentina in 2002, where he practised law for 5 years, he has lived in Italy and the United Kingdom working as a freelance Spanish teacher and for various prestigious companies and colleges. Among them  King’s College London, London Business School and University of Oxford. In addition he has delivered intense one-to-one language tuition to British Foreign Office Diplomats.

Liz Merchant is the founder of Succeed in Languages (SiL), a language company that has been operating in the UK since 1997.  Liz has 37 years of experience in the industry both in the UK and LATAM. 

SiL have been working with some of their clients since 1997. Succeed in Languages are members of the British Argentine Chamber of Commerce, the Society of British and Argentine Lawyers and the British and Colombian Chamber of Commerce.

We Do: Our exam


This part of the exam will consist of 30 questions based on 3 different texts:

  1. A piece of Legislation from either Spain or a Spanish speaking country
  2. A section of a contract
  3. A text where business and/or legal language is used. 

This part of the exam will consist of 30 questions based on a number of three different audios:

  1. A short legal advice.
  2. A piece of news on a legal matter.
  3. A coversation or a comment on a current legal issue.

This part of the exam will consist of 2 pieces of writing of between 120 and 180 words.

  1. Writing a letter 
  2. Writing a text

This part of the exam will consist of :

  1. An oral presentation of 3 to 4 minutes based on a subject given. Followed by a conversation with the examiners on that same subject.
  2. Three to four minutes to give opinions on information, charts etc given at the exam.


The language used will be of a high intermediate and advanced level of Spanish.
